Alright, y’all! My first lesson is up! (Well, most of it). It is a 6-part series on Triangle problems on the SAT. Here are the problems I review out of the blue “Official SAT Study Guide” by the College Board:
- p407 question #2 (video p1)
- p411 question #11 (video p1 & p2)
- p412 question #15 (video p2)
- p425 question #9 (video p2 & p3)
- p462 question #14 (video p3)
- p475 question #15 (video p3, p4 & p5)
- p475 question #11 (video p5 & p6)
- p491 question #15 (video p6)
Lemme know what you think! I already got some feedback:
- Zoom in on the textbook or get a screen-shot of the problem so that it can be viewed more clearly
- Post the problem # I’m working on in the comments
- Get rid of the black bars on the top and bottom.
Anything else???
P.S. – My website is miteach.wordpress.com! NOT what I say in this clip. (For some reason the Youtube annotation doesn’t show up…)

Wow, thx jill!! great lessons!1
i have one question though. are you going to post up any lessons on the verbal sections of the PSAT and SATs? I really need some tactics on it. that is my weak point!!
Wow! MIT sounds unbeilievable… of course I would want to go there, but it is really hard to get in! can you get me more details on that pls!! thx!

hi jonathan! glad you are finding them useful. unfortunately, right now, i am focusing on math only. i do have plans to get reading and writing lesson up, but no timeframe. :/
mit was a great experience and getting in was definitely one of my proudest achievements. do you have any specific questions?
i think you’ll find their admissions blog helpful: http://www.mitadmissions.org/blogs.shtml

Your blog is interesting!
Keep up the good work!

one question, what book do you use for your lessons?
September 16, 2008 at 4:34 am |
“The Official SAT Study Guide” written by the College Board. I actually use the 2006 edition because it has not changed much… and I’m cheap.

wow I never knew there were online SAT tutors!
This is great. I really needed help on the math section.
I really appreciate the time and effort you put into trying to help desperate students like myself get through the SAT.
Thanks once again!

I have to say…This lesson was one of the best online lessons I’ve had so far. What did it take to get into MIT? Anyway, thank you very much for the lessons, I’ve already bookmarked your page….lol. Hopefully, this will help my math score improve because that’s my weakest area.

Thanks, Andrew. I am glad I can be of help! My way of getting into MIT may not work today. I of course had good grades (A minus average) and good SAT scores. I also participated in many clubs, though admittedly, I was never terribly pasisonate about any of them. I just did it to get into a good school. I would recommend that you check out the MIT website. Their admissions office seems quite friendly and they have an amry of student bloggers who have valuable insight. Good luck and lemme know if you have any questions you’d like me to answer for you!

Could you please explain number 9 for video 2 & 3 some more?
In particular, how’d you find out TRIANGLE:BDC was an isosceles triangle?
November 12, 2008 at 7:44 am |
Triangle BDC is not isosceles. Triangle ABD is isosceles because it has two angles x that are equal to one another. Triangle BDC is a 30-60-90 triangle because triangle BDC and a 30-60-90 triangle are similar triangles. Clearer now?

Oh, one more thing.
If the figure is not drawn to scale, how do you know what it looks like?
